Additional Information

Are you ready for an opportunity to relax and enjoy Door County in the Winter?

The Wisconsin League for Nursing is pleased to offer a great opportunity for nurses, nurse educators, students, and families and friends.  We are calling this a do-it-yourself weekend getaway, shared with like-minded people.

Here is a scenario that is undoubtedly repeated all over Wisconsin in the homes of nurses, graduate students, and nurse educators:

Nurse spends hours and hours holed away in front of a computer working on something related to work, teaching, writing, or academic studies.

Family members and/or friends wonder when they will see their beloved nurse again.

Nurse says the work is on my computer.  Family members get some attention from beloved nurse (if lucky) at meal times.

Right???  This happens in my household almost daily!

We decided to let our family and friends on a little secret.  We enjoy our work!!!!  So let's get to know each other and enjoy a weekend away in Door County in Winter!

This weekend is intended as a relaxation and get to know each other weekend.  We are offering time away for WLN members to work on writing projects under the direction of a writing coach available all weekend.

We have some exciting news for writers and potential authors:  Marilyn Oermann, PhD RN ANEF FAAN will be joining our writers group on Saturday for a LIVE webinar that includes consultation and mentoring!  Dr. Oermann is a well-known author, editor in chief of two nursing journals, and recent recipient of the NLN President's Award for 2019.

If you are desiring that little push on your writing project, we have the time set aside to be productive!  We are providing a "writing hospitalitiy condo" for Friday through Sunday.

The only schedule for the weekend is a Saturday morning gathering from 8 - 11 AM, beginning with a great breakfast for WLN members.  Following breakfast, we have a program featuring Pat Walsh, MS, an excellent writing coach and a webinar with consultation provided by Dr. Oermann.  We will also conduct a networking session before breaking away for the rest of the weekend to spend with family, friends, colleagues in beautiful Door County or enjoy the activities at the resort.

The weekend begins Friday with check in at the resort.  A bonfire is offered for all attendees (members, families and guests) on Saturday night at the resort.

Personal one on one one hour sessions are available on a first come first served basis from Friday night through Sunday morning with Pat Walsh, writing coach.  You will be directed to the sign up genius site after your registration is completed.  Look for the confirmation email with directions to sign up for the one on one writing session availability.  These sessions are offered at no extra fee for the available slots on the weekend.

Choose the length of stay depending on your availability.  We are providing a "writing hospitalitiy condo" for Friday through Sunday.  One and two bedroom condo style suites are available by directly choosing your condo location (there are a number of different configurations and buildings where we have blocks of condos set aside).  Reservations for the condos are made directly by contacting the Landmark Resort.  Indicate you are a Wisconsin League for Nursing reservation for any number of condo units for you and your family or friends.  Enjoy the winter group rates the WLN has made available to you.

As the retreat nears, we will provide information of a number of winter activities available in Door County.

There are a number of different room locations and configurations to choose from at the Landmark Resort.

Call the Landmark Resort at  800-273-7877 and mention the WLN Retreat to book your room reservations directly with the resort.
